Yes, it is normal. I'm a gay man whose been with probably two or three thousand different men and I can tell you that the amount of semen (pre-cum) a man produces varies considerably from man to man. Some men produce none at all and nothing comes out of their penis until they reach a climax and ejaculate.

Others produce a lot. I, too, am one of these men. Even if I am not aroused I often leak semen. If I see anything that excites me, the flood gates are really opened. So what to do? No, I have not noticed a correlation. Since you're straight I don't know how much personal experience you've had in experiencing other men's ejaculations (except in watching porn), but as you assume, the amount of sperm ejaculated varies considerably from man to man and even with the same man depending on the length of time since his previous ejaculation and other factors. Men who ejaculate huge amounts of sperm are very much prized in the porn industry because every producer wants a good money shot with sperm flying everywhere.

For what it's worth, even though I leak large amounts of pre-cum, I don't ejaculate as much sperm as most other men. So perhaps there's an inverse relationship. And after I climax I generally leak semen (post-cum?) for an hour or more after I ejaculate.

You are absolutely right and I stand corrected. Semen is the viscous liquid that carries the sperm cells during ejaculation. I had always assumed that the clear viscous liquid that comes out of a man's penis prior to ejaculation (pre-cum) was also semen but I was wrong. That liquid comes from the Cowper's gland and it is not semen. I looked this up on the internet.

One of the most rewarding things about SYD is what we can learn from each other here on the Forum. Thank you for the information about semen and pre-cum being different materials and for sparking my interest to do further research.
