Growing up my life has been dominated, no, not dominated,,influenced by the three men that have been my mentors, lovers, and friends,,,obviously, one was not a lover. These men are my Dad, my uncle and my ex-husband.
The music i like is a combination of their tastes and pieces I've found liking. I know there's other forums with similar topics,,anyone can post here but my postings are for my enjoyment,,music makes me forget some hard times...kisses to all
Waylon! Oh yeah! He and Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard are my "A" list favorites. "I Ain't Living Long Like This" was the first album by Waylon that I ever bought.

Garth Brooks is one of my favorite C&W stars. I don't like most of the modern C&W but this one, "Friends in Low Places" is a favorite.

Blame it all on my roots
I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
The last one to know
The last one to show
I was the last one
You thought you'd see there
And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
And I toasted you
Said, honey, we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain

Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics Of Love)
Waylon Jennings
The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquee lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
Got us feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newberry's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain
So baby, let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and

Well, a Cherokee chief as he dances along
He does an Indian boogie to a white man's song
Singin' hey ho a lina, hey ho a lina

And he keeps on a dancin' everywhere
Singin' hey ho a lina, hey ho a lina

Well, he sings to the hills and he sings to the clouds

Has anyone noticed that Twits seems to be obsessed with bella! these days? Seriously...90% of her forum posts make reference to bella! It's getting to be a lot like a "it puts the lotion on its skin" situation.
It really is kind of sad and pathetic, actually.
Sure, Twits is in her mid 70's and has issues with dementia and alcoholism, but watching her dance like a geriatric monkey in the Forum just to get a pat on her addled, little head from the Sea Cow and its crew is depressing.

Love salsa
I have a somewhat different taste in music. For me, it's been Johnny Cash since I was fifteen years old.
By #562152 at 14,Sep,18 11:53
I love Johnny Cash. His "I Walk the Line" "A Boy Named Sue" and so many others are favorites of mine. I prefer C&W from the 60's and 70's. Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristopherson, Hank Williams Sr and Jr. It's a long list. I should have posted some of them too. I'm glad you did
I couldn't have said it better myself! "Folsom Prison Blues" is my favorite Cash song. Waylon is one of my favorites Too. His song "Amanda" blows me away. I also like Merle Haggard, George Jones and Willie Nelson. Kristofferson is great too. I saw him three times in concert. Once solo, and twice with The Highwaymen.
By #562152 at 14,Sep,18 14:03

Ok,,I own an LP of William's from the 50's (from my Dad) with Jambolaya and others
That may be somewhat of a collector's item. I still have several original Johnny Cash LP's, long since worn out. I was very glad when they were rereleased on CD.
Uh,wow! Waylon has been my favorite music since I got my first radio! Clyde is my favorite song and some of his later stuff is good to. Johny cash and others as well.
I spent the last couple Saturday nights listening to the Grand ole opery on WSM online.I used to listen to it years ago on the old Am wood cabinet radio but got out of the habit.
But when I turned it on last Saturday and listened for the first time in years,I was like,What the hell is that they are calling country? SHEESH>
By #562152 at 29,Sep,18 16:55
I know what you mean. I simplify it but, if it don't wail it ain't country. My dad had this huge floor AM and short wave radio cabinet and we would listen for hours

Aww, you just made my day! Music production is actually my profession, and this is THE song that influenced me the most into my musical path way back when I was 12 or 13. I love so many female artists, but Annie is my all time favourite. Also, you're the first person I've ever seen quoting the full title of the song too.

By #562152 at 14,Sep,18 00:23
I like her rendition of "Summertime" although I like the Luis Armstrong/Ella Fitsgerald version better. Annie has a beautiful voice and i love to hear her but she's a little dark in her themes.
By #545732 at 14,Sep,18 01:14
Oh Ella's version wins without doubt. My fave Annie songs are Why, Cold and A Thousand Beautiful Things. Fave Eurythmics songs are Sweet Dreams, There Must Be An Angel and I've Tried Everything
