Sad to report the passing away on 6th November of the lovely actress Pauline Collins at the age of 85. (I can't be doing with this polically INcorrect nonsense calling female perfomers ACTORS.) Pauline will always be remembered for her stellar role as Sarah in the great 1970s t.v. series "Upstairs, Downstairs", one of the greatest British t.v. dramas of all time with beautiful theme music by Alexander Faris. Also for her Oscar-nominated performance in the 1989 film "Shirley Valentine", a role she previously played on stage. But before then in the 60s, she also appeared in "Dr. Who" and the comedy series "The Liver Birds" as well as numerous one-off t.v. appearances. She is survived by her actor husband John Alderton and their two grown-up children and her passing comes just a few months after that of Jean Marsh who played Rose in "Upstairs, Downstairs" and who co-created the series. R.I.P. Pauline
