Recently, a friend of mine was admitted into Gulf Coast Hospital in Ft Myers, Florida. What I found interesting is that when I or anyone else went to visit, all visitors had to present a valid piece of I. D. to gain admittance. Anyone else aware of hospitals that have this policy?

I agree that talking your picture for the pass that they issue is fine however having to provide a valid for of I.D. just seems so odd. So this opens up the practice of providing valid proof of who you are for other entities ie Walmart. How are you going to react when Walmart wants you to provide positive I.D. in order to shop there?

I have never had to present ID to visit someone in a hospital nor have I ever had my photo taken for the purpose of an ID tag to wear while I visit. Having said that, I consider myself lucky that I have rarely visited people in the hospital.
You have to get past the nurse's desk first and you're not going anywhere without their OK.

facial ID sticker has been going on at hospitals here in South Florida for 30 years. CAT can probably confirm, we've had security at main lobbies of hospitals forever. Now, forget about the maternity ward, you have to give blood to get in there.

Seriously? This gas station’s convenience store uses hi-tech cameras to monitor their shoppers as they peruse the aisles filled with candy bars, potato chips, beef jerky and beer. Is it me or do they take it to the extreme when confronting shoplifters over $1.59 candy bars? I understand that stealing is criminal offense but why jeopardize your life to pursue a thief over a candy bar?

Cops should shoot for only one reason; if they don't, someone else will die in the next second. That's it! No bullshit like "He looked like a threat!" or "He didn't follow orders!". If one cannot do their job of serving and protecting, go find another job, in an office somewhere, like I do. Or be a waiter, or a mechanic, or a dentist.
Only be a cop if you respect people's lives and honor the badge that people allow
you to wear. And you should respect yourself, by demanding respect FROM police,

You know when I was a kid all the police knew you they knew your grandma but time has changed and I don’t blame the police one bit now days they have to walk up to a vehicle with dark tinted windows with thugs pointing a gun at you before you even know it they have to be extra cautious it’s not a racist thing when I’m pulled over I roll down my window and show them my hands if at night I turn my interior light on because I want them to be able to see what I’m doing and for god sake do what they tell you to do these few things will help the situation until they hash things out

Create a country where cops have a REASON to be afraid,

Then there are lots of cops that act out on people who do exactly as they are told. These cops are clearly not qualified to be a cop, but they get transferred from precinct to precinct, instead of getting fired permanently. That's because you keep supporting politics that let the cops worry only about themselves and not about you. Why do you keep supporting policies that screw you?

There are not lots of cops that act out on people, very very few. Most of the time when a cop overacts is because the stupid people do not follow the directions the cops give them. Don’t defend the stupid people when a cop has to over react, that’s what there trained to do to stay safe.

I know that they are trained to OVER-react. That's the whole problem.
Our cops are trained to de-escalate. That is safer for everyone involved.
It does help that our cops don't have to assume that everyone has a gun.

It's not very very few, it's lots and lots of times. The problem with right-wing Americans is that it has to happen to YOU or someone you love, before you
see the problem. As long as problems hasn't affected you personally,
you're unable to accept reality.

YouTube is full of actual cases of people who were just minding their own business getting a cop in their face for nothing. They get shouted at in a way like "Don't enter that house!" or "Don't touch that car!". If they then say "But that's my house!" or "But, that's my car!", that is "Resisting arrest" according to the cop, for which he arrests them and put them in front of a judge, demanding 6 months in jail. There's a legal channel showing all those cases, for people who didn't do anything wrong, but were confronted with a cop in an completely over-excited state. That can happen to anyone. If you just live in the same neighborhood as a criminal, or he's looking for someone of your color, size and age, or he's looking for a car that has the same color as your car, he assumes you are the perp he's looking for on the weakest of evidence. That's super dangerous to your health. You better freeze and do exactly as he says, because one move can be your last.

There are bad cops. There also are, bad Doctors, bad teachers, bad nurses, bad attorneys, bad accountants, bad firefighters, and ect.... However, none of them walk out of the house to go to work and have a chance of never coming home that night. Every shift could leave thier family without a mom or dad. Yes, there are deaf and handicapped people. But as you say, do you think a deaf person has ever committed a crime? These are isolated situations. There are over 60,000 police interactions everyday in the United States. That's roughly 21 million a year. But, you never hear the good only the bad. Kinda falls on deaf ears wouldn't you say.

Yes, and when any of those people who have other jobs are bad at their jobs, they get fired. When bad doctors are causing deaths, the system cracks down on them and they are gone. If cops are causing people to die, they should be gone too.

Being a cop is certainly not a safe job, but their risk is far less than lots of other jobs, while they're causing much higher risks to other people in their jobs.
Cops are not even in the Top 10 of most dangerous jobs.

You're a missing the point. Yes all this is true. However, teachers are in a class room with children. Doctors are in an OR with a silent patient. Cops are in a whole different element. On the streets, with criminals, and a target on their back. It's different. You would only understand that if you've experienced it. As far as your list, almost 100% of the deaths per year are from work accidents. Again, completely different scenario then being killed by gunfire. There's a difference in a job related death and death by violence.

well if we all lived in the nether regions like ananas,we would have cops riding around on scooters with a radio and a couple of zip ties giving out candy because his country is so perfect. on a serious note, of course there are some cops that get a rush when they get a chance to draw their gun. but few and far between. we could point at case by case till we all turned blue, but some will still find fault with law enforcement. i find fault with their attitudes towards people moreso than their defending themselves. nothing in the job description says you must be a asshole and intimidate each person you encounter. but some do.i also find fault in some like the 1's in florida and texas that hid behind their cars while kids were being shot and dying. our local law enforcement would have went in guns drawn and woulda shot the punk on site. coast guard and other non cops went in at the texas school and fixed the problem,without much help from the cops.

The end result is DEATH. In both cases the "employer" didn't intend it.

the point you are missing is simple. if people would abide by the law,the police would be jobless.

This afternoon I heard my cat screaming out. I opened the door to see what the hell was going on. There was the prick that lives next door to me beating the hell out of my cat. I garbed the bat that I keep by the door and got in his face. He let my cat go and I backed off. He seed my cat was in his house when he got home. His house is locked when he gone. He told me pick her up and she bit him. I would of bit him to if someone was beating me like that too. I don't care what she did but you do not beat on an animal like that. I have been threatened several times over the past 5 years by the mental case. I came close to caving his head in with that bat. They try to kick him out but he had a doctor give him papers sayings they can't kick him out because he is a mental case. I am looking for a different place to move too. If I don't there's a good chance something bad might happen, if you know what I mean. The law told me they can't help. I just need to get some feed back on this. Yep I have reported to police and the local animal protections. I am moving away from the Fruit Loop, After 5 years. The landlord tried to kick him out but he gave them papers from a Doc saying they cant kick him out because he has mental problems. I believe in Karma. The Devil will take care of him in the end. If my class mate and good friend that's built like the HULK gets a hold of him first.

Quite often, this is the type of video (police bodycam) that I will view on YouTube. This video, in particular, is about a woman shoplifting somewhere other than Walmart! 😁

One of the things that catches my attention is that although this appears to be an upscale mall that attracts BIG NAME STORES, there doesn’t seem to be any shoppers. Are “brick and mortar” stores becoming a thing of the past? If you fast forward in to approximately the 9 minute mark, look at all the merchandise this woman has “concealed” in her skirt!

wow! i don't know that i would kick the bucket but it sure would seem like a sign to behave myself>! i will say, i attended a grave side service last year and when it was over i went to look for another friends grave and fell into 1 that was recently filled in. right leg went down to my waist and the grave was full of water to. apparently they put sod over the soil and didn't pack it well. i never did find out who to talk to about it but surely by now the hole is fixed. all i could do was pull myself up and out and look at the poor guys picture and say i am sorry bud, didn't mean to drop in on you like that. i felt bad about it but nothing i coulda done just looked like green grass.

yea, fleas are bad for sure.bed bugs to.our ambulances are having to be sprayed every shift now for bed bugs. coming from the illegals and such that bring these issues with them/
had to use alot of this chemical to get rid of fleas from of all things, a infestation on a lawnmower i repaired. it was covered in clippings and the eggs were in the clippings, hatched and made for a mess it took months to fix.

I actually “noticed” their debris in November when I arrived in Florida. There was “dirt” in my bathtub and I thought that was odd but thought it had something to do with whatever my property caretaker did while I was gone. I cleaned the bathtub and went about my business. Just recently, I thought that I spotted a bug in that corner so I got up on a stool with some tissue only to find that this dark spec was just that, a dark speck, however there appeared to be “dust” on the molding…. I went to dust it off and found that it was more like “sawdust” which prompted me to research my problem on Google.

I’m going to have my home tented and treated in the beginning of May when I leave for home in Michigan.

Those neighborhood Walmarts don’t pay shit, I have a friend who worked at Winn Dixie for 38 years and recently got laid off, so he got a job at Walmart, he was there for about five years stocking and moved to meat cutter, he just quit because he was only making $12 dollars an hr. He is now at Publix and with his experience they started him out at $20 dollars an hr as a stocker with a top pay for that job at $24 dollars an hr. Walmart pays there stockman very low wages.

When I think of Walmart, I think of a store that sells miscellaneous items, like the concept of K Mart (when it was thriving) and Target. Both of those stores then added a grocery line to some of their select stores. Strange, Ive never considered food shopping at Target!

In Cape Coral, there's something called SPROUTS about 1 block away. I had to Google it and apparently they are considered a "farmer's market".....I wonder what that's all about. Have you heard about SPROUTS?

Better is a subjective term……. I shopped at SPROUTS today and was impressed. They tag themselves as being a “farmer’s market”, their produce was organic, their meat was labeled hormone/antibiotic free. There was a nice selection of fresh coffee beans and bread items. I must admit, in MY MIND, I was anticipating a much larger selection of produce.

I don't like EV's due to range between charges. We take too many trips that are more than 350 miles and on the road charging is a major hastle. Having said that, my son and both of his brother-in-laws own EV's (not Teslas). They use it in the city, have home chargers and only need to charge them once a week. In the city they have no problems at all. All three are new cars with full guarantee. So, we'll see how it goes.

There are many reasons the Dow would drop that had nothing to do with any president. The Dow has dropped and risen many times, it will correct itself once investors become more relaxed on what the new administration is doing. I’m not for trump or any president that has been in the running the last few years. Americas finest doesn’t want to run and I don’t blame them. Anyway, the majority of American voters picked who they wanted. And if any other country doesn’t like it, tough, I didn’t vote for trump or Biden so I’ll just have to go with who is in the white house now. If and when the social security or Medicare are being cut, then I will worry about what’s best for me to do.

One of my best friends and a family member we are close to don't vote either.
They tell me they don't have the time to think about it enough.
That's a confirmation that it is important enough to not take lightly.
Not everyone has political convictions as strong as me or eg phart.

However, I do stand by my opinion that you let other people decide for you.

They cannot pay you what you put into it, because it's NOT a savings program;
the working people are paying for the retired people. They are cutting into the buffer now, because more people are living longer, and your government didn't increase
the tax or the tax cap to compensate for that. That was INTENTIONAL.

It's a very simple program with very low operating cost. There is no one making profit on it. If you privatize the system to an investment system, most of the profits will go to big banks and insurance companies, and all the risk will go to the people.
Have you heard of the Enron scandal? There are many scandals like that.

Republicans are pushing this on you, because Wall Street wants to make big profits from privatizing social security, and they are bribing your politicians to lie to you.

It is one of the most common surgeries in Canada. The actual surgery itself took 10 minutes but I was in the hospital for three hours for waiting and preparation. Because of the incision in my eye to replace the old lens with a new lens it feels like there is a piece of sand in my eyeball that is driving me crazy But this is a short term pain for a long-term gain. My vision was quite blurry in my right eye and within a week it will be a lot better. A common analogy is that it's like having your windshield cleaned.

a week apart from what I read. The lady had took the dog to the vet, apparently came home and had a medical issue and fell in the floor.the dog was still in it's crate from coming home from the vet, so it must have starved to death, a week later Gene died of a heart issue. Yeah, I've read several articles regarding their deaths in which she died first and he followed days later. According to what I've read, Gene Hackman had a pacemaker and the examiners/doctors are able to pinpoint when the pacemaker's last activity transpired. With Gene having advanced alzheimers it kinda makes sense that he wouldn't necessarily have the awareness to what had happened.

I had a mini split installed in my residence in Florida rather than central air and I chose this route for a couple of reasons.

● it was more "cost effective"
● and there were several guys in my community that were willing and more than capable of installing the unit within a matter of days of the unit being delivered.

Never having a mini spit, I didn't know what to expect and the neighbors nearby recently purchased a Goodman unit and love it. What the heck, I'm in, that's perfect!

The unit is whisper quiet and I love that aspect. The only thing I'm not so sure about is that the fan continually runs. For anyone who has a mini split, does that seem to be true for you? I called the company that the unit was purchased from and the representative confirmed, YES. Once the temperature is set and reaches the desired level of comfort the fan will run for circulation purposes. Sounds reasonable (I think). With a fan that continually runs I wonder what is the actual lifespan of a mini split?

I am researching these things to get 1 for my shop and the thought process is the unit is more efficient running all the time than stopping and restarting. Restarting a compressor motor takes a good bit of energy,and if it does not stop running, but only slows way down,it consumes little power.
