Many years ago a columnist in our paper here wrote a column titled "The F-word". I'm sure that most people seeing that headline thought something dirty and I'm sure that was the columnist's intent. It turned out that his birthday was approaching and the F-word was "forty". Since I was thirty-nine at the time and my own birthday was approaching, that column really resonasted with me.
Looking back from my present vantage point of sixty-eight, I can now appreciate that the forties really are the prime of life. At that age a man still has most of his youthful vigor, but he has gained a good deal of maturity. It's really the best of all worlds.
Since it's now more than three weeks since you posted your comment, you birthday has already occured. I hope that it was happy and please accept my best wishes for good health and happiness.
