No timer no help so I set camera on desk, sink or table & adjust myself to get in frame. Its a bitch, but well worth it in the fun of it

try using something long ( no, not THAT!!!)...like a hockey stick or yardstick to push the shutter down without moving the camera. Push it down slowly.
