Penile Implants

I've put this discussion off for too long but I'm finally at a place where I need answers. Several years ago I was in a really bad accident on my Harley; ground off half my foot, broke 20 bones, and had to pick my arm bone off the street after it came totally out during the accident.

My problem is, I'm now, and will always be, on really heavy pain killers which have rendered my ability to get an erection and hold it almost non existent. And, I'm the exception in that little blue pills don't work for me - maybe because of the other meds. My wife and I are still able to have sex but not from intercourse and I worry that she's not very satisfied.

So, this brings me to the question... I'm considering a penile implant and have done a fair amount of studying to see if it's a viable option. However, I'd like to hear from anyone who either has one, or has had sex with someone with an implant and hear your comments on their effectiveness and the pleasure it gives both the one with the implant and their sexual partners.

Here's hoping someone has some experience in this area. And please, no jokes; this is a serious medical problem and not one where we're looking for sexual partners to fill the gap, no pun intended. Only those with serious experience with implant surgery and it's effectiveness are encouraged to reply.

As you say, this is serious and as such you need professional advice. There are (or were at one time) a variety of different type implants. You need facts first then "testamonials." Best of luck!!!

And I would add to this that a penile implant is NOT the way to deal with: "... and I worry that she's not very satisfied." Couples therapy/sex therapy with a competent psychotherapist is a likely better way.

Yes, forgot about injections. Many porn stars use Caverject shots for a film shoot, as it's not easy to stay hard for hours of filming with a crew and cameras in your face and balls

Yeah I'd say your ED is from the narcotics, and it kills your sex drive. Maybe your pain management doctor could put you on the Fentanyl patch if you haven't tried it already. Not sure how it effects sex drive though. I'd really consider any other alternatives before I'd get an implant. I'm not studied in it, and wasn't even aware people do such procedures but I can imagine the outcome is regrettable for many that have had it done, I doubt it is an easy and perfected procedure, just look at boob job horror stories..

Have you tried using one of the penis pumps specifically made for men with ED? You pump to erection and use a special cock ring to clamp it off. Worth looking into if you haven't tried it yet.. Sorry about what's happened, I can't imagine how it's impacted your life

I can get an erection but it isn't full and only lasts for a few minutes at best. A pump may get it up a bit fuller but the issue with it going away immediately will still be there.

I've been through a number of pain killers and none of them work as well as the Neuronton & Tramadol combined. Their symbiotic nature boosts the effect of each of them and the pain, fortunately, is well controlled. Bear in mind that I cut most of the nerves to my lower foot and toes when the the foot got turned inside out and ground down.

Thanks for the sympathy and it's been a tough, painful road to recovery but I'm doing pretty well now.

Well, I have no experience with implant surgery what-so-ever, nor do I know anyone who does, but I'll reply anyway.

First of all I wish to send you my most sincere condolences on your tragic accident.

Secondly I'd like to say that we are a good fellowship here at SYD and we help each other out all the time. If there is anyone in the membership who has useful information for you, I'm sure that you will hear from him, either here in the Forum or in a Private Message sent directly to you.

Another resource you might wish to consider is Dan Savage's sex advice column "Savage Love". If it is not published in a paper where you live, you can read it on-line at savagelove.net.

Best wishes and good luck.

Thanks for your condolences and your advice. It's been 5 years since the accident and I'm pretty well back to normal with a significant gimp that is.

@BushPilot: If Viagra doesn't help you, and before going as drastic as a penis-inplant, have you ever considered penile injections?

In my country it is sold (only on doctor's description) as Androskat, the working ingredients being:
Papaverine Hydrochloride
Phentolamine Mesylate
You inject this into the penis, and it works far better than the blue pills.

I don't know under what name or brand this is sold in your country, but a bit of google-ing will get you there.

Succes!

The problem isn't with size and any of the blue pill type meds lower my **** pressure to dangerous levels. As for an erection, I can get an erection but it isn't full and doesn't last. I'm told that it's a side effect of the nerve pain killers I need. Thanks for the info tough. I'll at least look into it.
