The great actor Sidney Poitier passed away on 6th January at the age of 94. He won an Oscar in 1963 for "Lilies of the Field" but his best film was "In the Heat of the Night" with Rod Steiger in 1967. That was a good year for him as he also starred with Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey in "Guess Who'S Coming To Dinner?" (which was Spencer's final film before his death that year) and in 1967 too Sidney played the teacher in a run-down east London school in the British film "To Sir With Love" which also starred the singer Lulu who sang the title song. R.I.P. Sidney. |
