SPH is a sexual fetish like any other, and is a form of BDSM. There are many guys out there who cringe at the idea of SPH so don't ever assume every small dick man likes SPH. Some do, many don't, and the people here who say they do are not representative of all small dick men.

It's just a variation of general desire to be degraded. Not the worst one. Some want to be toilet slaves or be tortured for real.

I don't think that religious flagellation is similar to bdsm. In the first instance, the person expects a metaphysical reward whereas in the second he/she may enjoy it while being tortured. The latter ones don't expect long-term term rewards. The former ones do.

I think it's more complicated than that. But I'm afraid I'm not capable to formulate it adequately in English.

Some people think they deserve to be punished and desperately want a punishment as forgiveness of their guilt of some kind. The guilt may be real or imaginary or may not even be articulated, just subconscious.

People who feel guilt and are religious are often paranoid, because they expect that god will punish them any minute. So they may chose to punish themselves and achieve temporary peace through that. I doubt they actually think god will forgive them or reward them for that. And even if they do, that is rather rationalizing of their actions than a motive for them. They may not even realize why they do that, they just notice that they feel better afterwards.

People who are not consciously religious and have some kind of guilt basically feel the same, just without rationalizing it via god. And they also want punishment for the same reason - to feel psychologically relieved. But since there is no god for them, they may substitute auto-flagellation with BDSM. I doubt that many of them actually feel physical pleasure from the abuse. Some may feel it, but most just feel relieved when they get the punishment. And that translates as pleasure, despite that real physical sensations may be very unpleasant.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that all who practice BDSM are like that. BDSM is more about control and giving up control, not so much about pain and punishment as many people think.

Also in spite of what many people think, BDSM is usually consensual. At least within the community. They have clearly predefined limits and stop words. That's true. The shooting was accidental. Inserting the gun was not. It was probably consensual. Why the fuck would they use a loaded gun is another matter. Perhaps they thought it's more exciting this way.

I did not look deeper into it. If what you say has happened then he probably got 10 years not so much the the shooting but because he fled. Accidents are not punished that severely, but conscious leaving gravely injured without attempting to help can be.

If you are fascinated with connection between sex and vi0lence, you should probably try to read some of Farmer's "Tarzan" books. If I remember correctly "A Feast Unknown" is dedicated to that. Or may be the entire bunch but I'm not sure, I did not read them all.

What I'm sure of is that I have seen some psychology-related articles that mentioned subconscious connection between penis and guns. It was long ago, so I don't remember how it goes. I think Freud first mentioned something like that, but I do not consider Freud a serious specialist, despite his fame he only had few patients, so his theories lack statistical basis.
