False "New Messages" Alerts

Does anyone else get a "New Message" notification when they sign on, but not actually have any new PMs when they check? This has happened several times on my page in the past week or so...

this happens to me as well. when I come on here I see a little text box on the lower right that say's I have a new message. some times I click on it and there is no new message.and it takes several minutes before the text box goes away. I also find that I can not post a comment to one topic, then post a comment to another topic without having to wait several minutes.. the submit comment button is grayed out...it's early hope I am making sense ...

According to Admin, that new message alert might be because you received a new GIFT from someone.

that is fixed already. you can actually see the message about gift has been sent to you.

I opted out from notifications.
You can do that on edit account settings:
/editsettings.php

Not that I am aware of. However, the "new" message it keeps alerting me about DID come from you. For the past several days, I thought that you might have gone bonkers and just kept sending me the same PM over and over and over again!

You should, but it was not working correctly. It was increasing number of new messages but not inserting the message itself.

I had it a few times,but it was at the same time as I recieved a gift..
I just put it down to a notification update..

Seems you nailed it. Don't know why it's not working. I think I fixed it before.

Aside from the deal with the gifts, which should be fixed now, if the member who sent you some messages gets deleted for spamming, you may still get the alert but no real messages, because they are deleted with the member.

I added a little something that may help with this too.
