Nothing wrong with the operating system... it's the hardware and stupid fucktards making it....plus not getting recovery tools as physical discs or usb....built in recovery partitions are shit and that's half the problem..computer builders add all the shit crapware and it fucks the operating system till you end up having to phone up Microsoft to get recovery windows discs/iso's...also OEM's are notorious for fucking over customers.... manufacturers want you to update equipment every two to three years like mobile tech...most PC's laptops run fine without all the bundled shit...if you are looking for drivers buy a program to find them....windows doesn't update drivers very well...never has done...and six years is old tech these days....might be worth investigating newer stuff... U you can get someone to build you one the way you want...and it will work better than a Mac...

Yeh, right, billion of sold copies, $440B market capitalization of the company, best programmers in the world, and Windows can't update drivers much better that Ubuntu Linux that is made by a bunch of enthusiasts and is distributed for free. You really do not see how ridiculous this is?

That's your choice to use Linux...I don't use it unless I have to...new laptops have problems with Linux distros.
Uefi problems...and android is getting better... isn't android built on top of the Linux kernel? if that's the case,Google took a free product and made it their own....so free software helped make Google a dominant f0rce in mobile tech...and that's how most people use the net these days..

I don't use Linux on my laptops, there is no some very specific software for it that I need. I have to stick with Windows for personal use. I'm just pointing out how ridiculous this is that Windows is not 100 times better than Linux with all those money and company size, but just by a relatively small margin and not even across the board, on servers Linux is better.

Android is based on Linux, yes.

Yes it is ridiculous..but it's a business for Microsoft...Linux is about the community...I don't agree with the way Microsoft operate...but I won't use apple just on principle...all the tech companies are wankers...so if Linux could get a manufacturer on board with them it would be a great alternative to windows/apple..I don't know anything about server side stuff.a bit past my limited knowledge of computing.

I got Win 10 as a beta tester and have never had a problem with my 3 year old laptop.Not crazy about 10 but it's ok

I think Wiindows 10 is a good OS. They had to release it's original version the way it was so they could find out the bugs that needed tweaking (like drivers etc.). In fairness to Microsoft, and even though it was more than likely only a simple shrewd business move to do this, I think putting it out there for free was a cool thing to do.
The only issues I had with it were how the new features like the "cloud" were set as active as the default, and having to navigate through the settings to find out which were running and which weren't was a bit of a ball-ache, but nothing major.
I'm sure you shouldn't have any driver problems by now as software developers are usually on the ball in getting them out to their users. Good luck.

Drivers are the number one cause of problems...ask any computer tech support...even using the manufacturers built in utilities to update them will cause you problems... clean install with no crapware gives you a better start...drivers get corrupted and windows will only look in its driver store for them..... so if the driver installation was messed up in any way you'll get problems..... number one rule in computing....backup,backup and backup.....saved my ass a few times by being prepared for the worst

I totally agree. I had an absolute nightmare earlier this year when the PC I used for all my audio work died on me just as I was around 3/4 of the way through a BIG job. The PC was running XP because most of the software installed wouldn't run on any Windows OS past that. It meant I urgently had to buy some new software for the laptop, which I'd recently upgraded to Windows 10 on, but the new audio drivers had some baaaad issues and I was totally stuck!
It wasn't until the anniversary release came out that the problems were solved too!
I still haven't been able to get all the lost work from the XP PC hard drive yet. I ended up having to rewrite and record 14 songs in less than 3 days... and I did it! Heehee

I'm currently bitching at samsung for their shit fucking recovery solution...

you can get the data back easily with the right tools... windows doesn't delete stuff properly....so it's still there...

Yeah, I need to get a USB adaptor thingy and get the files from the drive. I'm more pissed off about not having the audio software anymore though. I'd had that system for years and never had a problem at all until that day. I'm just stuck in my ways...

It was in Korean ffs....had to find a YouTube video where the guy explained the interface....recuvva is a good free tool to search for files.... there's loads of good ones out there....I use recuvva just cuz it's easy to use and I use other software from the same company and the advice from users is pretty good.

Yeh, right, for free. They were so desperate to give it away that even installing it without users consent. I bet they want to introduce pay per year model or something like that since they see their attempts to sell the same OS over and over under new names started failing. We'll see.

I got windows 10 which I didn't want.but I got rid of it by going on google and putting in how do I get rid of windows 10.and I just followed the instructions and got rid of it.but first I wrote to them and told them that I did not want windows 10 and if they persisted on down loading it on my computer I would take them to trading standards.then I did the first bit.and I have had no trouble whats so ever with them and windows 10.so if you don't want it just try what I did.take it to a computer shop and have it removed.i would try that first.i wouldn't dream of buying another computer.

Software industry was given a free pass in 90es on a grounds that it's new innovative field. They could do to the users that no one else could - sell them products that are not guaranteed to work and not be liable for this and for possible damages.

Though at a time it was sound and I supported it, I think now it's long overdue to take that free pass back. They are not as much innovative these days as simply ripping off their customers. Especially those giants like Microsoft. They are total con artists.

But this will not happen on it's own. You have to push your political representatives to make it happen. People already got used to the current order of things and forgot that it should not be this way normally, it was an exception. You can't imagine that someone sells you a TV that works or does not work randomly and burns after 5 years igniting your apartment, can you? But everyone got used it's normal with Windows. It's not. But it's not gonna change if you do not push it.

It is to the point there needs to be a viable alternative to Windblows. I need a newer computer but I do not like the new software.Win 10 would not even work with my dialup because you can't cut off the automatic updates so it would just sit there and try to up date without me ever being able to use the machine.

that's why i NEVER use a TV any more. i used to be able to click a button for on/off, another for volume, and another for selecting channels. now, i don't know what the fuck i have to do with all that useless shit that TV's are loaded with.
