Oddly, a lot of guys don't want to believe it. Rather than believe good science - they'd rather trust Internet myth, polls that rely on self-reported measurements, and heavily-edited pics that suggest 7-8" is normal.
Most likely from the beginning of time, they have found ways to measure the length and girth of their dick. Why? I may be mistaken but I do not recall it being important for women to measure their boobs, so what is the fascination of what dangles between your legs, hmmmm......?

I spent my whole life thinking I was on the smaller side of average. I forgot to pay attention. If your partner seems attracted to your member..that's all that is important. Of course a certain gleeful surprise goes a long way too.

Second, personally, I'm more attracted to the aesthetics of the whole being (despite NOT being a woman). I love my own dick because I know what it likes. If someone else looks like me then, um, cool? If I, too, am sexually attracted then extracurricular play IS fun. Doesn't matter the sex of someone, some will do whomever.

Another thing to consider is in primatology/anthropology. The females of primates with larger male genitalia (percentage to body size) tend to be more promiscuous. There are a couple theories that have been developed to explain the evidence, but I will not get into those now.

However, just to be balanced, in my 'real life' conversations with female friends some of them are noticeably impressed on seeing a large penis and I have had a conversation where a husband's penis size has been unfavourably compared to an ex boyfriends. although to be fair i have never heard of a woman choosing her partner based on the size of his penis.
The problem is and was Porn. I have been involved in shooting porn films, and to be honest to get the best and greatest variety of angles for the film a good sized penis was a definite plus. I am not talking enormous, just maybe 8 inches or so. So in porn we have a self fulfilling selection of penises on show.
