Jill is very lucky and I bet many women agree with me. Joe says lets make love she says "we just did".

That pre-supposes that “Jill” doesn’t want to be “moved”

And do what?
By phart at 21,Jan,23 17:32 other posts of phart
Well,it would help to explain to some of us why his having papers in the garage is so much less of a issue than Trump possibly having papers locked in his home?
I also read this morning that biden caused problems for jimmy carter not wanting a appointee that had misshandled documents back in the 70's .So why ,if it was such a problem for him in the 70's that someone else misshandled documents, and it is ok for him to have them??
Makes no sense all these double standards coming out of the woood workes. It will soon become all but impossiable for the democrats to hide these double standard- Do as I say do not as I do situations.
By CAT at 21,Jan,23 18:02 other posts of CAT
It would not help in your case. Those of us that actually follow the events and try to understand have tried to explain it to you and you refuse to understand. Trump KNEW he had these papers and tried to prevent it's return to the National Archives. Biden did not know he had these papers, and he certainly proved it that he doesn't approve this mishandling of classified documents by his stance in the Carter affair. The possession is unlawful and both should be fined for it. Trump, though, went to a higher step and committed a crime willingly. That is the difference. This is not a double standard. It's apples and oranges.
By phart at 21,Jan,23 21:48 other posts of phart
So let me try to understand this.
You don't know what is in your closet?
You don't know what is in your garage?
Biden doesn't know what is in his garage?
or his closet or his "whatever".
He is filling the chair of the president of the US. He or someone should know where ever mouse turd is for security reasons.
And it is perfectly ok for there to be documents there?
What ever the outcome of this is ,I hope some new rules are put in place to prevent this from happening again.
By CAT at 21,Jan,23 23:00 other posts of CAT
Phart, I have boxes in the attic with tons of papers I've collected at one time or another. When I stored something important, I did so with the intent of getting back to it. So, let's look at a possible scenario. I have a government office I have to vacate. I'm the vice-president. Does it sound right that I would pack and load all that in a Uhaul and move it myself? I had classified materials in my office. It's legal. It ended up, first, at a private office and then, in my garage. As soon as it was discovered, the National Archives was notified.
You want the world to work in a perfect way. It just doesn't. So, now, what do you suggest? Do you want him to resign? You want Harris to take over? Do you want him to share lawyers with Trump?
By phart at 21,Jan,23 23:23 other posts of phart
Might save money if they both use the same lawyer Trump can negotiate a better deal on a 2 fer.
It is just annoying that 1 man is crucified and another man is not for having documents in their home period,
Hell no I don't want giggles for prezident.

By phart at 22,Jan,23 14:58 other posts of phart
Not a fixation as much as knowing it is all that is up for grabs for something better.

We are closer with McCarthy, maybe all this nonsense crap can slowly start to dwindle. I know that we cannot go to the past or future. But why do we keep digressing to the past? We tend to live the past now, why?
By CAT at 21,Jan,23 16:25 other posts of CAT
You can’t go and CHANGE the past, but, you can plan for the future. Your party, the GOP, seems to be stuck in a time loop. That’s why liberals are said to be “progressives”.

they called him racist for everything, never in history has a president been treated so badly before.
By CAT at 06,Jan,23 17:29 other posts of CAT
Sherryann, they called him racist for everything because he was racist for everything. You think he was treated badly? How about him saying Obama was not born in this country during 8 yrs of Obama's presidency? Are you going to seriously ignore the racist way the Obamas were treated because he is black? By any standard you want to use, and I don't mean the amount of rabid supporters, Trump is an egotistical failure. He is uneducated in the real sence of the word, ie, ignorant. An ignorance that makes a fifth grade student seem like a mental giant. And, what did he bring to the office of the presidency? A spanking by a porn queen while his wife was expecting. A devastating trade war with China. China, the country we buy so much from that if they wanted to, they could paralize this country. That happened in a partial way. Did he bring health safety to you and me? You tell me. Sherryann, the only thing he brought to us discord, lies, misogynism, and discrimination of many different nationalities, religions and societies. And you wonder why he's treated so badly? Come on.
By sherryann at 06,Jan,23 20:22 other posts of sherryann
Listen cat, I'll tell you what's racist Clinton saying years ago there won't be a white majority soon and how glad he is! Biden said the same thing. That live coverage on tv right now about January 6th is racist! What's racist is the white men locked up, beaten and treated worse than any non white is racist. A black "officer" killing a white woman on January 6th without being held accountable is racist. If that were a white officer killing a black woman we'd still be hearing about it on the news! True blue white nationalist 's don't even like Trump and those who are white nationalist/separatists know he's far from being a racist. To clarify: a white nationalist is what you would call a "white supremacist". Why is it if whites want to be separate it's "racist " but if any other non white race wants to separate its not racist? Double standard.
By CAT at 06,Jan,23 23:57 other posts of CAT

In 2021, the U.S. population expanded at its slowest rate in history, and for the first time, the majority of its population growth came from immigration. So, despite four years of former President Donald Trump’s policies limiting the admission of foreigners, the United States is on track to reach its anticipated 2044 “majority minority” milestone: the moment when the majority ethnic group, non-Hispanic white people, becomes one of multiple minorities.

only registered users can see external links

Why is this racist? "live coverage on tv right now about January 6th is racist!". It's coverage of a historical event that happened two yrs ago today. DiSantis was re-elected in the last election and it's in the news. Is that racist? And how many non-whites did you see taking part in the January 6, 2021 insurrection? How many of those got arrested and are now being beaten in prison? BTW, if you are a cop, and you see a mob coming at you, and you shoot your weapon to defend yourself, does it matter if you are black or white or whether the perv is a black or white man/woman? I doubt it and whatever comes after is just that, what came after..
I call a nationalist someone who wants to support his country even at the detriment of other countries. A white supremacist is not that. That person wants other ethnic groups to be discriminated against. That is not good for his country. Wanting to be "separate" is a choice and no one would object........until that person starts to want other ethnic groups to ride in the back of the bus or demand a "white" and "non-white" public water fountain, public pools for whites only, public schools for whites only, and so on.
By sherryann at 07,Jan,23 01:03 other posts of sherryann
Welcome to my world CAT. Where I live I'm already the minority.
Why J6 is racist is because white men were incarcerated (while inside denied medicine/health care, beaten) for petty insignificant so called crime while we had looting riots massive destruction by BLM & their supporters during a pandemic that didn't get any negative coverage in the news. It was actually encouraged. But the J6 was "historical" because they were all white and Trump supporters. As far as the white woman getting killed by a black cop that was never held accountable is racist in my book. You have your own belief CAT and the majority of people believe exactly like you do. I don't care either way what happens.
By CAT at 07,Jan,23 17:36 other posts of CAT
You call an insurection a petty, insignificant crime? The overthrow of our democratic form of government is an insignificant crime? Threatening the life of a vice-president is an insignificant crime? Destroying property in a federal building is an insignificant crime? What do you consider a significant crime? There are close to 1000 people identified by the FBI as having taken part in J6. Over 600 pleaded guilty and the rest are waiting on trial or indictment. Are they .the ones beaten and denied meds? Did this happened while they were out on bail? The black cop did have to go through an investigation. He was exonerated. It's funny that you feel this is racist but when a white cop murdered a suspect by kneeling on his neck for over 9 minutes you did not. Your views are yours to bring out. So are mine. Sherryann, I believe you are racist. I don't care. I don't like it but, I believe you have your reasons.
By phart at 07,Jan,23 19:47 other posts of phart
the fresh prince of no air had commited a crime and large enough to harm officers. BUT where the cops screwed up was taking him back out of the car once he was in it, shoulda left him in there with the air conditioning on until the ems arrived, let THEM deal with the health issue.
As for the gathering at the capitol ,I hardly call a bunch of folks with flags and funny hats a Inserection.
More guns would have been there, more people would have died, and a couple doors would NOT have stopped the group from their goals.
I can't say they were right in damaging things but that black cop was WRONG and RACIST and misogynist and he took advantage of a opportunity to kill a unarmed woman.
I would be happy to pull the switch on his electric chair, but I am sure the line for that job would be 10's of 1000's of people long.

By phart at 08,Jan,23 16:44 other posts of phart
Do you honestly think they would have?
No, they were trying o instill fear, in turn get some results.
1 of the fellows I talked to that went was gathered near the gallows and had several photos of it.
looked sturdy enough but the folks were not armed that were near it, and some were eating hotdogs and having a good time.
I don't think the "threat" was real ,but good acting to try to instill fear in our leaders and remind they represent US and WE wanted a fair election.
What pisses me off is the fact our constitution says we have a right to a speedy trial. There are STILL people in jail,2 years later, denied bail ,healthcare and so on. WHY?
hell if what they "did" was so bad,why not move them to
Nuremberg and get on with the progra?>

By Ananas2xLekker at 06,Jan,23 15:22 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
The difference is that Trump banned people from China from entering the country completely, while Biden is just asking them to do a test. If I want to enter into China,
I have to be tested for Covid too.

Calling Covid the 'China virus' and 'Kung Flu' is racist.
Restriction on people entering the country is not necessarily racist,
but if you have different policies for different skin-tones/races, that's racist.

I do agree that China pulls the racism card way too often.
The best way to react to that is telling them that it's not because they are Chinese,
but because their government is a bunch of authoritarian liars that we cannot trust.
By phart at 06,Jan,23 15:55 other posts of phart

But really, if people are so dumb as to invest in a digital asset that can't be held, confirmed or even traded hand to hand, I am not so sure those people are smart enough to have money either.
Reminds me of that "artwork" that the artist sold for piles of money and then BURNED so it was only in the digital world.

People have lost alot of money and left wondering how to cope with the loss.

By phart at 15,Dec,22 14:38 other posts of phart
Well think about it, if it was republicans, the democrats would be all over the news talking about the dirty money, now the 37 million is in their hands, it will be interesting to see just how they handle the second largest donor only to Soro's.
Why do you consider investing being greedy?
Don't you have investments??
Without investing this world would be much smaller, with alot less tech, which thinking now, that may not be a bad thing, anyhow, investing is what makes things work.Nothing to do with greed.
By CAT at 15,Dec,22 15:58 other posts of CAT
There's investing in legitimate investments like CDs or Bonds. Also startups and ongoing businesses, either direct or through stocks. Bitcoin was always a cloud dream. It was in the nether regions of the internet. There's no product, no service, nothing. All there is is the hope that the next guy will pay more for it so your holdings (such as it is) will increase in value. It sounds like a glorified Ponci scheme.

He's on their homepage as well.

In the 2022 senate election, FTX.US gave more to Republicans.
He's not a liberal, he just likes to corrupt all politicians, reps and dems alike.
That's basically what all plutocrats do, to keep the American system intact,
that gives them preferential treatment over everyone else.
Isn't that exactly what you want?
Don't you want those job-providers to have all the power to exploit people?
That requires bribing politicians, you know
By phart at 21,Dec,22 16:35 other posts of phart
I acknowledged the fact he had give to both partys, perhaps not in this thread but somewhere. I am mostly trying to get you folks to pay attention to see if the democrats step to the plate and set a + example for the republicans to follow.
Or if they are going to be hypocrites.
By Ananas2xLekker at 22,Dec,22 08:18 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
Absolute bullshit. Republicans were the first to sell out to big donors.
Republicans have pushed through every law that makes that corruption possible.
Democrats only started selling out, when Bill Clinton decided that Republicans had an unfair advantage taking all that money from the rich, corporations and lobbyists. They then became ALMOST as corrupt as the Republicans.

Even to this day, Republicans are funded way more by big corporate donations and super-PAC's, than small donors and the Democrats the other way around.

You never research any of the things you are saying, you just think "Republicans good, Democrats bad", and then fill in nonsense that just suits that false idea.
By phart at 22,Dec,22 16:14 other posts of phart
Well let me ask a question.
Let's see how much support a total ban on campaign funding would get.
If you run for office you have to put up your OWN money.
that would eliminate the poor and middle class from running for office real quick.
That would also allow for wealthy to take total control, something you oppose.

So that in the long term would be detrimental to the country.

Ok, so let's try regulating campaign funding?
That is not working because who makes the laws? lawyers,so they leave loopholes for themselves.

So propose a fair system,I will give it some thought to.
le'ts compare ideas.
By Ananas2xLekker at 28,Dec,22 12:28 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
Have you ever heard of party membership contributions?
Starting a new political party in my country costs almost nothing.
In my country, if you want to run for office, you either start a new party
or you rise up the ranks of an existing one. It doesn't take personal campaign funding and it doesn't require any wealth. It only requires you to convince people of your ideas. You go on talkshows and you recruit volunteers.
That way works great, because we have new parties all the time. It's just your two political parties that decided to work together, ban all other parties and work only to enrich themselves. But it was the voters who allowed them to do it.
You believed their lies that they needed money from the rich and corporations, and now they hardly need you and certainly don't work for you anymore.
You are just voting cattle to them.

Your system of legalized bribery incentivizes lazy people who are looking to get rich easy, to do the bidding of the rich and corporations, take a lot of money and screw over the people, who are stupid enough to vote for them.

Lets regulate campaign funding, so that corporations cannot put millions into the pockets of their minions and politicians are actually working for the people.

By Ananas2xLekker at 30,Dec,22 09:00 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
Yes, 'money talks'.
That's why democracy needs to be protected against money 'talking'.
Because democracy is about PEOPLE 'talking'.

Do you understand anything about democracy?
Ever heard of the term “One man, one vote”?
It means 'equal representation for all citizens',
not just citizens with money to bribe politicians.

Exactly, all of the media endorsed Biden, a mentally declining fake-progressive,
and called him the 'safe candidate', because he is the elitist-approved Democrat.
He really is just a puppet and doesn't work to get any of his promises achieved.

At least, Biden did promise to improve the lives of working people.
What are the Republicans promising to do?

Wow, you couldn't even finish the sentence. How smart you are.

You just watch the Republican propaganda, so you might have missed it, but yes,
all the corporate Democrat propaganda was endorsing Biden and demonizing Bernie, because Bernie will cost their corporate owners a lot of money. So they called Biden 'the safe choice'. But he wasn't the the safe choice for dem voters, but FOR THEM.
Even if he did win, Biden will not achieve a lot, will disappoint Democratic voters and leave the country vulnerable to the next fascist, to destroy democracy.

It's your failure to understand anything past your own indoctrination, to see that Democratic voters are indoctrinated too. Both rep voters and dem voters are indoctrinated to think what the corporate owners of the media want them to think. That's either culture war bullshit for Republican voters and corporate-approved liberalism for the Democratic voters. No corporate owned media is telling people what they really need. That's why I always endorse independent media.

Just one example: "The incredible shrinking … Bernie Sanders?"

That's CNN talking about a poll that included mostly old people, who by large margins supported Biden over Bernie, and left out young people, who did the opposite.

Went to the great wally world this morning to get a couple things and checked the bologna prices, There was a particular brand I used to get that was .99 cent a pack about a year ago. 2.24 for the same pack of bologna.
OVER double in price.
And that is the cheapest made stuff you can get that resembles meat. it is everything but the oink, cluck and moo from the grinder.
Thanks joe.

besides we get a good bit of our meat from Here at HOME anyway. so trade really should not be affecting it.

It was the largest Chinese acquisition of an American company to date. The acquisition of Smithfield's 146,000 acres of land made WH Group, headquartered in Luohe, Henan province, one of the largest overseas owners of American farmland.

Then you have gas prices going up and packaging goods coming from outside the US. There’s more, but, the tariff war with China is the main reason we are in this mess. Every economist told the Clown tariffs are bad and they don’t work but, like everything else, he knew it all and went ahead with it.

When I lived in Valdosta, Georgia, a co-worker lived in a farm and raised hogs or her husband did. Her husband would take one of the ones not sold wholesale and have it slaughtered. We could pick up the meats for pennies (cost of slaughter divided by weight). We had pork for months. Two yrs ago the husband passed and she sold out.

Living 30 minutes from him I hear a lot of local news about him and don't like the man. Anyone else but trump is exceptable.
By Ananas2xLekker at 07,Nov,22 20:35 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
You don't care who is in office? One party is a bunch of weaklings who ask the billionaires "May we please do something to appease our voters?" and the other party says "Democracy doesn't work for us anymore, so let's kill it!".

So, if you ever liked voting and plan to maybe do it again some day, and it not be just
for show, like in Russia, there is only one choice. And if you don't choose correctly,
then your only future choice will be Trump or some Trump-like figure.

Cody, Ananas is right. We don't always have the option of having a truly great candidate. We still have to vote. There's always one that's the lesser evil. Your vote could assure that the country gets the lesser evil. You owe it to this country that has provided you with a relatively free life where you can pursue your way of life as you like it. Look at it this way. Every two years your country needs an oil change. What does it take? A few hours. It's not a huge ask.

I have so many other things to do with my life, I hate politics and if I am going to do my so called job to vote, I want it to be less time consuming. I've voted for both democrat and republican. I don't like whose running on either side. If I can get someone who will keep social security, and Medicare strong, they will get my vote, that's all I care about. I care about me and only me. It's what I need. Not what's better for everyone else. Seems like there are several republicans that want to cut these two, yes, I've heard them say it, I voted for reagon, George h bush Obama, and Biden only because I don't like trump even though he had some good ideas, his mouth was the clincher. Now I don't know who to vote for, what we need is new younger with different ideas, strong defense, start building things here in the u.s. And help our own people here first. Stop sending money, aid and food that we need for our own to other countries, well you get the point. Space force. Oh, what I forgot, most people don't know this but the u.s. Has more oil under our own ground then anyone including Saudi Arabia, it's a FACT. let's start drilling our own oil and were down to three refineries when we used to have seven producing oil refineries that were shut down because it was cheaper to get oil overseas. Stop the greedy fucking Americans who just want to overcharge us for there own benefit. I can go on, don't get me started,,, I've said too much already.

sadly there registered democrats out there that if the Devil was running as a democrat and Jesus as a Republican, they would vote for the Devil simply because their great ,great grandpa voted democrat so they have to as well .

The real problem is the young people that could be or are running for office are to radical .Take AOC, not hard to look at, has a college education, and she is in a powerful position right now. but look at how radical her views are. very difficult to support someone that young with those views that are not based on any practical knowledge of how the world works.

That Green lady that ran again and won, she needs to quieten down a bit and just do her job. She runs her trap to much and makes her self look a bit silly.

and the democrats wouldn't think of doing such?
Yea right.
Just look at all the fools paying union dues .
Tesla workers get the same benefits union workers get if not better. and they don't have to pay union dues.
They are just expected to do their jobs to the best of their ability and EARN the money.
And be honest, if people didn't have someone watching over them and encouraging them by whatever means to work, nothing would get done.
By CAT at 24,Nov,22 16:19 other posts of CAT
There are states that have laws against union membership as a condition of employment. These are called right to work states. This means a prospective employee does not have to join a union to work there. This makes it very hard for a union to succeed at a job. Since union membership costs dues and non-members get the same benefits, soon, the union doesn't make money to be profitable (unions are businesses too). The union declares they will stop working for the members at the end of the contract. Employers know this and try very hard to discourage new employees from joining the union. The fools are the employees that don't join. As soon as the union is out, they can lay off whom they want and start paying much less. The union is not there so an employee can be lazy. I've known several union members get fired for not producing. Here's something to consider:
"Oct 14, 2020 — Analysis of the polling data shows that active union members are actually more Republican than non-union members"
Perhaps, they know conservative (like most employers) bosses will screw them without protection from a union.
BTW, you have a piss-poor view of your fellow man.
By phart at 06,Dec,22 01:40 other posts of phart
BTW,you are looking thru rose colored glasses in reference to your fellow man.
I have friends that have worked union jobs. Postal workers and others. Postal warehouse workers move a couple trucks full of mail, go sleep in their cars until another truck comes in. While yet another employee ,that has been asleep for 3 hours while the trucks were being unloaded, comes out and sweeps the damn floor. ALL THE WHILE< their pay check keeps coming.
Fire the floor sweeper and put the damn broom in the freight handlers hands is the smart thing to do ,but no, that's not their job and the union protects them from doing something other than their exact job. Fuck the fact the company is having to pay them a hefty wage to SLEEP.
Look at the recent rail strike threat recently. This country is just barely getting it's head above water after the wuhan virus thing and now the workers want MORE.
I have newspapers here from the 40's and some of the front page stuff ,is in reference to Rail workers wanting more money or more this and that. That is giving the union way to much power over the economy and the country. You know well as I do,if the railroad stops, trucks can't fill the gap entirely. So all those people have to do is whine and threat to strike and they get more and more and we as Americans, wind up paying more and more.
By CAT at 06,Dec,22 02:02 other posts of CAT
A business doesn't have to sign a contract with the union, but, they know they will make some good profits if they do. If you think you have a better idea, by all means, sell it to the unionized businesses.

Yea, and look at afganistan. Trump had the plans in place and biden screwed the pooch.
Look at all the wasted military equipment and money we are handing ukraine, only for them to get nuked sometime shortly or be decimated by the destroyed nuclear plant.
Our oil reserves were filled while it was cheap, biden has blown them out our ass, the turkey i ate some of today was over 50 bucks! for a fucking turkey,we didn't pay that under Trump.
And etc.
But folks like you with piles of money aren't being hurt by bidens agenda. Until it takes something off your plate you won't care or understand.

You look at Afghanistan. Millions of dollars spent daily. What plans did the Clown have? NONE. The other day you complained the oil reserves were not being used to bring gas prices down. Now you complain because the reserves are being used? We are not rich and we live on our retirement and savings. Inflation affects us as much as anybody. We just don't go around blaming anyone in particular.
By phart at 25,Nov,22 14:58 other posts of phart
So you can't see or won't look at who is behind it all?
Trump had a plan setup ,he also had the enemy informed of the consequences if they didn't do as agreed to. that much I remember.Trump had no fear of reminding people like the taliwackers and north korea that we as in the US had the bigger button. that instilled fear into those people that they best not mess with us.

I will give the taliban credit where it is due, they seem to be taking care of their country and not harming us lately. So long as they stay there and don't harm us, we should give them the same respect. What they do in their own borders is their bussiness. Not ours.
I can't remember complaining, I feel sure I did, but at the time putting out a small amount of oil wouldn't have hurt. But just opening the valve and not closing it has, and the shipping it overseas didn't do any good either .Releasing for use HERE makes more sense than sending it over there.
By CAT at 25,Nov,22 15:48 other posts of CAT

Why does the US not use its own oil?
And yet that same report reveals that the U.S. imported 7.86 million barrels of oil per day last year. That happens because of a combination of economics and chemistry. The economics are simple: overseas oil, even after shipping costs, is often cheaper than domestically-produced crude.Mar 8, 2022

You think getting impeached, twice, is a stupid witchhunt? Throwing out Roe v Wade was a right wing objective since it's passage by SCOTUS in the 1970's. It's been fueled by that joke of a religion, the Southern Baptist. It happened that three justices either retired or died on The Clown's watch and he was able to change the political composition of the court. I hope we, the honest, law abiding, people of this country never let up prosecuting that mysoginistic, perverted, lying, traitor. I have already accepted the fact that not a lot will be done the next 2 years if republicans gain control .Right now the idea is not to get much done, but to simply stop the bleeding with a tourniquet until more can be done. America is being bled dry with the current policy's and global striff.
We need to focus on healing our nation and it's people first, and stopping the bleeding will be a good start.

When are you going to point at a specific policy and argument in a logical way how it is hurting America. And what is the policy that Republicans proposed as an alternative, that would help America?
Can you do anything other than say 'inflation', without any argument why
if it was Biden who caused it, the rest of the world has the same problem?

Democrats proposed the Inflation Reduction Act and Biden signed it into law.
Where is the Republican Inflation Reduction Act or something to that effect?
Let's discuss their proposals for reducing inflation.

explain how all those IRS agents are going to help inflation that the Inflation reduction act put in place?
let's start with that 1.
By the way, before you say they will go after the big money not being paid in taxes,do you think the government will trust new hires with millions? no,the new hires will be trained on the middle and lower class people that are suffering the most.

Ok here you go, another issue.
UNDER BIDEN it says. Our oil reserves are the lowest since 1984.Yes the oil meant to help the US during wartime and other possible major disasters is being exploited to try to win votes to a short memories democrat base.
Florida's representative said,
""We have a strategic reserve for war, for in case of drastic emergency. It doesn't exist to bail out the president's party in an election year."
By CAT at 03,Nov,22 21:48 other posts of CAT
Except that a few months back all the Repuckers wanted to know why we weren't tapping into our oil reserves. Never happy. If it's green they want blue. If it's blue they want green. I have an idea. Let's outlaw cars and everyone has to ride public transportation.

If the Republicans win anything back in the midterms, I hope they get nothing done at all, because when Democrats are in office, Republicans are even more evil, because the people will blame Democrats for it even more.
Seeing that Democrats never put up a fight, it will probably be horrible if Republicans even only win the house with the slightest majority.
Democracy is really on the ballot.
By tecsan at 08,Nov,22 07:17 other posts of tecsan
Are you kidding again. It is easy to admit defeat when you know what will happen. DEMOCRACY on the ballot What the hell do you call letting the people decide who is in power. Keep lying, I am sure there are a few idiots that will listen to you.

No RER TIDE, JUST SOME TOMATO STAINS. 65% of Americans say abortion should be legal. Pennsylvania is blue as blue can be. No matter if Republicans take the house or Senate or both, they didn't get enough to reverse a VETO

By Ananas2xLekker at 12,Nov,22 11:22 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
The time where the American people decide who is in power has long passed. Sure, Americans still get to vote, mostly, unless they find out that their registration has been purged. And you yourself question whether those votes are actually counted. What your side is saying about dead people voting is nonsense, but there are real problems. Some ballots are not counted, because there's people who need to decide if signatures are matching and if the ballot is filled in correctly. It's still below 1%, but in a close race that can be misused effectively. Then Republicans are openly calling for discarding of absentee ballots, with time limits on counting or just discarding absentee ballots from certain liberal counties. Trump just admitted to a crime, saying he sent the FBI to Florida to 'stop the steal',
when Republicans were loosing their elections.

Trump wrote: “After the Race, when votes were being stolen by the corrupt Election process in Broward County, and Ron was going down ten thousand votes a day, along with now-Senator Rick Scott, I sent in the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys, and the ballot theft immediately ended, just prior to them running out of the votes necessary to win. I stopped his Election from being stolen.…” If that is true, it's a crime. What is true, is that Ron DeSantis narrowly won his election against Andrew Gillum, by just 30,000 votes, while 83,000 votes were deemed invalid. Really suspicious... Are Floridians so inept at filling in a ballot? It sounds like there is some truth to Donnie's claim and he really did steal the election for 'Ron DeSanctimonious'.

However, the largest reason for why the people don't decide who is in power anymore, is because they vote for the politicians and not for the donors who control those politicians. Your government doesn't do what the voters want, your government does what the wealthy and corporations want. Then there are lots of stupid people, who think what the wealthy and corporations want them to think, because of 24/7 pro-corporate propaganda on your corporate media. In most cases the election candidate who is backed by the most money wins. Apparently Americans are just stupid enough to let some mind-numbingly pointless commercial of a politician shooting something convince them who to vote for. Democracy begins and ends with the voters understanding democracy itself and having any grasp on reality.
When people are turned stupid by their smartphone, democracy dies.

Fetterman did not do well in the debate.
It should have been expected because he is recovering from a stroke.
Recovery from any brain injury is a long ,drawn out process and it has only been 5 months. It has been 17 years since my accident and I still to this day when under pressure can't come up with a word sometimes.Names,poof. and etc.
You may NEVER recover some things that were lost.

Perhaps he could be appointed to a committee or something to contribute to his followers for the time being?
The simple fact is he is not able at this time.

Even if someone would be completely unable to speak, there is technology today to make them able to communicate their ideas. Fetterman is not even disabled, but only has a temporary minor speech impediment. He was able to stand up. Did you thing Madison Cawthorn was unfit for office for not being able to walk?

Republicans are always telling people to suck it up and go back to work.
Fetterman is doing that.

In that debate, even though Fetterman has a speech impediment, he communicated more than Dr. Oz did. Dr. Oz is fully capable of speaking, but he communicated nothing.
And whatever he did say were either lies or evasions.

""At the end of the day, I think it is selfish that John Fetterman is doing this," Gaetz continued, "because he's not going to be able to articulate any of his policy views. He's not going to be able to advocate forcefully on behalf of his constituents to federal agencies when they need help from the VA or with colleagues."
Read that and tell me something that will prove it wrong?
By Ananas2xLekker at 27,Oct,22 17:03 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
Matt Gaetz has no credibility whatsoever. Him still being a politician,
while he has been associated with sex trafficking of a minor,
should have been a reason for him to step down immediately.
Does he think he still represents his constituents?

It is wrong, because having a disability, especially a temporary tiny one, should not be a disqualification to run for office. And you would say the same for any Republican. Actually, I think Trump is less capable of communication than Fetterman,
and while Fetterman will get better, Trump will get even worse.

A good long time friend of mine just told me about 3 hours ago he had a stroke last week that has prompted the loss of eye sight in his left eye.
The dr looked in him straight in the face and said "this won't get any better."
and once you have a stroke, there is a increase in chances of you having another ,and another.
This is no tiny problem, this could well be a permanent problem that will only get worse with time.
By CAT at 28,Oct,22 12:34 other posts of CAT
I regret what happened to your friend.

"This won't get any better"
"Once you have a stroke, there's an INCREASED CHANCE of having another."
"And another"
"This is no tiny problem"
"It could be permanent"
"It will only get worse"
"Your pee pee could fall off"
"You might turn green"

It's good that after a week from the stroke he's able to communicate with you and see with his right eye. That doctor should go back to med. school to learn giving "HOPE" to a patient.

By Ananas2xLekker at 28,Oct,22 17:36 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
I hope your friend will be alright and will surprise that doctor with his recovery.

If you don't mind me asking; how old is he?
Is he at retirement age or does he still have to work for a living?
And if he is fit to work, is he not also fit to be a representative?
It might even be a job that would fit what he can still do.
Would you support his right to do so, if he wanted to?
By phart at 28,Oct,22 20:43 other posts of phart
He is 55 same as me, retired from his first job and is working as a consultant on contract making double the salary of his original job. He will loose his CDL license but his job doesn't require them anyway. He maintained them as a way to make extra money driving a grain truck or something once in a while.
He is a hard worker ,always has been.
As for hope, yea, I reminded him that Dr's PRACTICE medicine, that means even they admit they aint got it right yet.
By Ananas2xLekker at 31,Oct,22 14:22 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
"working as a consultant on contract" Sounds like he would also be physically able to be a senator, if voters liked his ideas and voted for him to represent them. But, according to you, he would be unfit for office, because he had a stroke.
Apparently his contractor thought he would be capable of being a consultant and he listened to his qualifications and experience,
instead of focusing on his stroke.

But you don't want the voters to decide between Fetterman and Dr. Oz on their qualifications and experience, but instead of focus on Fetterman's stroke.
Maybe you think Dr. Oz's qualifications and experience don't compare positively with Fetterman's qualifications and experience.

That might even be a bad strategy for people who do think Dr. Oz would do better, because it might be that most people don't like someone being judged unfit, because of a stroke. When you are pressed on it, you defend your friend for being a hard worker and swinging back from his stroke pretty spectacularly and making more money now. Other people might do the same for Fetterman and vote for him out of sympathy and for being judged unfairly.

The only thing they know is tax-cuts for the wealthy and deregulation.
Massive inflation? -> tax-cuts for the wealthy and deregulation
Very low inflation? -> tax-cuts for the wealthy and deregulation
High unemployment? -> tax-cuts for the wealthy and deregulation
Labor shortage? -> tax-cuts for the wealthy and deregulation
How smart and successful are they, if that's the only thing they know?

Ever seen a Republican bill to do something about inflation?
No, because they have no ideas and like it when people suffer.
Then they can blame Biden, for something Trump, Covid and Russia caused
and the whole world is suffering from.

Crops are withering away now, because of heat, drought and water shortages, not 300 years from now. Babies are still poisoned by lead and mercury in the US, because of deregulation of water quality standards. Flint Michigan, which is sort of the example for lead poisoned water did vote for Trump in 2016. Before that, the Democrats mostly won, so you're right that they mostly had Democratic leadership. But where does the money come from for massive infrastructure projects, like replacing lead water pipes? That's a national decision. Where is the decision made to relax regulations on water quality? Who controls the EPA, to check if water quality standards are obeyed? At what level is the decision made to allow fracking for oil and natural gas in the area, that acidifies the drinking water, causing the lead of the pipes to dissolve in the water? All those decisions are either at national or state level.
It's the fact that you still have people being poisoned by lead pipes, 30 years after the EPA regulated the amount of lead and copper in the water, that is embarrassing. There are still some privately owned houses in The Netherlands that have lead plumbing, but the national water grid is completely lead free since 2005. And we didn't have acidic water eating away at those lead pipes.

Six of the 10 states with the most lead pipes are Republican:
Illenois - Democratic
Ohio - Republican
Michigan - Republican
New York - Democratic
New Jersey - Democratic
Missouri - Republican
Wisconsin - Republican
Indiana - Republican
Texas - Republican
Minnesota - Democratic

Your last statement is somewhat true, but you vote for Republicans who don't even talk about building new and better and never improved anything ever.
If we are talking about a rotten foundation, it's people who don't even want anything to ever improve, like you. You don't ask, so you don't get, except for things that do not improve your life, but only make the life of others worse.
Then Republicans are sure to answer your request, as soon as they can.

First of all; it's 'speech'. The fact that you don't even know how it's spelled,
says something.

Second: It's the right-wing media that misuses the first amendment way more.
Fox'News' is literally spouting Nazi hate-speech on a daily basis.

Third: The first amendment should protect journalist exactly from what Trump suggests.
He's a fascist who doesn't give a damn about your constitution and amendments.
He only accuses the media of lying, when they fact check his lies.

Fourth: Lying is not limited by the first amendment. That's why Fox'News' is just allowed to make up 'facts' to suit their narrative and because it's cheaper than doing actual journalism.

There are limits to free speech, they are clearly described, you should read it sometimes. But protection of sources is a irreducible freedom of the press right.
It's crazy how you compare Alex Jones to journalists. Alex Jones obliterated the
limits on free speech, and acted in harassment, incitement to illegal conduct and imminent lawless action, true threats. He also violated the limits on commercial speech, but he's not being dealt with for that apparently.
The press protecting their sources is the most important right of free speech.

There are two sides to this. Are you completely ignorant about the law or what?

[US law does recognize a number of important restrictions to free speech. These include obscenity, fraud, child pornography, harassment, incitement to illegal conduct and imminent lawless action, true threats, and commercial speech such as advertising, copyright or patent rights.] SEE? NOTHING ABOUT LYING!

I missed the spell check ok? sheesh
Anyway, lies degrade peoples reputations, guilt or innocent, once a lie is out there ,that person is negatively affected.
Aint that why alex is being expected to pay 9 million?
Well what is the difference of the media outlets telling lie's and ruining people reputations?
NONE. so media SHOULD be held accountable. Law? MAKE 1. Folks don't seem to mind making them for same sex marriage and killing babies .So make 1 protecting people reputations by holding media responsible for their lies.

Funny you say that, but I could be convinced that the terms "hillbilly" and "redneck" are discriminatory terms and could be added to the TOS of a media company and issue warnings if people use them. But, there should be a group prerogative for people to use those terms, if they are talking about themselves. People like Jeff Foxworthy self-identify as a 'redneck', so his 'You Might Be A Redneck If...' jokes should not be banned.

As early as 2021, white supremacists were praising Tucker Carlson promoting the 'Great Replacement' theory, the racist, antisemitic and xenophobic conspiracy that posits that white Americans are at risk of being disenfranchised by non-white immigrants, sometimes described euphemistically by Carlson as “demographic change” or “replacing the population.” He has elevated the conspiracy theory that Democrats are plotting to replace “legacy American” voters with immigrants in more than 400 episodes of his show and discussed the falling white birth rate and shifting gender roles, another key component of the conspiracy, in over 200 episodes.

White replacement theory (also known as white genocide theory or “the great replacement”) has its roots in antisemitic ideology.

MILLIONS of illegals are being allowed to come into the US. For what other reason would the democrats have of letting them in,if their party, and their cause, could not gain from it?
I am not going by alex jones or anyone else. I am simply looking at the border crisis as a citizen and deducing for my self what the cause and effects are of what is going on.

"MILLIONS of illegals are being allowed to come into the US"
The meaning of 'illegal' is: 'not allowed'.

The Democrats did not in any way hinder border security.
It's true that Democrats give more immigrants legal status.
They still have the opinion that the US benefits from growth,
because your economy has a labor shortage.
Democrats also have the opinion that refugees are welcome.

You're just jealous that those immigrants get some help to build a life.
You could accept some help yourself, but it's your own opinion that
you are not worth any help and therefore you vote Republican.
Because you think the only people who deserve help are those 'job providers'
and everyone should just work like slaves, to earn whatever scraps they allow.

Your idea is that immigrants would vote for Democrats out of some gratitude for being let in the country or because Democratic policies help them thrive. That might both be true. But how long does that effect last? Do you think they will keep being grateful to Democrats, when, as you think, their policies hurt people? Or is it just that those new Americans don't vote for Republicans, because they didn't get indoctrinated for decades to think what you think. They understand that working people are better off with Democrats. And that's what you don't like.
You keep voting for team Republicans, because you are committed to them.
But especially in your situation it's totally against your own best interest.
And the only reason you have to fuck over yourself, is that Republicans also fuck over those non-white people, who just try to make a better life for themselves.

By Ananas2xLekker at 01,Nov,22 16:27 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
So for every colored person entering your country,
some white person is kicked out?

That's what replacement means. Right?
White people are not replaced, non-white people are added.

You are correct that non-white people are coming to your country.
That's a fact, I agree. However, hating that fact and using the rhetoric
of the KKK to spread fear about that fact and hatred towards those people,
is "white supremacy". Because you think those non-white people are inferior.
By sherryann at 01,Nov,22 22:58 other posts of sherryann
who is using the rhetoric of KKK and how? What you said is what dems do only their rhetoric is exclusively anti white. If I knew how I'd link what I'd like you to read, but I don't know how to link. Whites that you call white supremacist don't think they're supreme over others' they are just tired of the open borders.

Can you give an example of Democrats' anti-white rhetoric?

By the way, this topic started about Donald Trump proposing throwing reporters in jail, if they don't give up their source in the Supreme Court, who leaked that right-wing judges were preparing to overturn Roe vs Wade.

"Aint that why alex is being expected to pay 9 million?"
No, it's not the lying, that Alex was accused of. You could answer that question for yourself, with a simple internet search.
Lying in general is your free speech right, but lying to demonize specific people, intentionally to gain from it yourself and causing your target harm is illegal speech according to your laws.
"So make 1 protecting people reputations by holding media responsible for their lies." IT ALREADY EXISTS!!! It is called 'defamation law'.
only registered users can see external links

Free speech doesn't protect 'defamation'; 'communication of a false statement that harms the reputation of another'. Your examples, if the media would lie about those subjects, do not harm the reputation of a specific person or a specific small group of people, and cannot be proven to cause specific damages to specific people.

However, the for example, Matt Walsh was attacking Boston Children's hospital,
for 'cutting up children', and implying that people should do something about it,
causing crazy people to 'protest' that hospital and making bomb threats.
That could be a 'defamation' case, if plaintiffs could give evidence that the 'protesters' were encouraged by Matt Walsh, suffered damages and Matt Walsh should have known what he said is not true. Since Matt Walsh is doing 'journalism', he has the obligation to investigates claims about wrongdoing, before he accuses specific people of wrongdoing. There is a difference between the responsibilities of random Twitter users and someone like Matt Walsh, who is a political commentator, author and columnist for The Daily Wire.
only registered users can see external links

What is also important to know, is that Alex Jones did not lose his case, because the judge decided his speech was really 'defamation', but because Alex Jones didn't provide the information that was requested from him by the judge and opposition lawyers.

In a defamation lawsuit, the 'innocent until proven guilty' part works differently, because it's a civil trial and not a criminal trial. If the plaintiffs have a strong case and the defendant doesn't defend themself convincingly, the judge will side with the plaintiffs. You could say it isn't even a free speech matter, it's a damages matter.

Most Trump supporters are happy with Twitter being bought by Elon Musk,
thinking he will turn Twitter in the free speech Valhalla for right-wingers.

Have you ever considered how that affects Trump? He has a lot of money invested
in Truth Social. What do you think will happen with Truth Social if there is no reason
to be there anymore? It's not like Trump's other businesses are doing great.
He needs the money, you know.

Exactly! He chose to abuse the image of doctor to sell 'medicinal' products. He didn't care if they had actual benefits or if it was snake-oil, as long as he got paid.

Only gullible people believed he actually had any legitimacy as TV doctor, of which actual professionals said: "No other show on television can top The Dr. Oz Show for the sheer magnitude of bad health advice it consistently offers, all while giving everything a veneer of credibility.".

The only people who think his career as TV doctor gives him legitimacy as politician
are the only people who still believe such scammers; the Republican voters.

If Oprah ever gave Dr. Oz a platform to scam people, than she was probably scammed just as much as the viewers, because she doesn't do much research
or thinking about 'stuff'. She's intelligent, but pretty ignorant.

Oprah Winfrey has long insisted that she is apolitical.
She has endorsed Barack Obama, but off course, that was expected of her.
Her political views on 'The View' are a mixed bag. Some of her views were praised by conservatives. Most of the time that I saw her speak on the view, I just found her very ill-informed. But, she did surprise me with some liberal ideas once or twice, so sure, you can call her a liberal Democrat, but she is surely not a progressive. And I found they idea that she would run for president ludicrous, because she would have no idea how to run the country. I bet her campaign would just be completely devoid of ideas and just focus on; 'I'm Oprah, you like me, don't you? So, vote for me!'.
So, you can trust her to be nice, but no one should trust her political instincts.

So you want to preemptively ban smokers, just for the chance they would take breaks? Just have agreements about breaks. It's not so difficult. We have.

Smokers already pay for their own costs. They pay lots of taxes and die younger, which saves a lot on social security. The government loves smokers.

I agree that second hand smoke should be minimized. That's why I'm glad smoking is banned in public places and in work places. I don't think you can ban people smoking at home and poisoning their children. We can only ask smoking parents to not be idiots. There is a level of child abuse society allows, like teaching your children religion or right-wing conservatism. Unfortunately it's just up to the children to eventually recover from those forms of child abuse. We can only do our best
to have education provide an antivenom. Sadly, you support the venom.

John Fetterman once voted to release a man sentenced to life in prison for killing a man with garden shears in a parking garage.

The convict, Charles "Zeke" Goldblum, also attempted to hire a hitman to kill his accomplice in the brutal murder.

He murdered a man with shears, that is brutal,he had to stab and stab, blood gushing,he coulda stopped at one or 2 but no 26 times. And this fetterman wanted him loose on the streets to kill again. Fucking liberals and thier softness on crime. He was tried by a jury of 12 of his peers.

By Ananas2xLekker at 21,Sep,22 13:59 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
"That is how the justice system works."
Oh really? Wow, I didn't know that.
And off course it never makes mistakes then.

Just before he died, the victim said that someone else did that to him.
That statement is known in the law as a “dying declaration.” It is typically given significant evidentiary weight, as it is presumed that a person on his deathbed will tell the truth. Nonetheless, the jury believed the defense of the person accused by the victim, over the defense of Charles Goldblum and he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder, plus 15 to 30 years on other charges.

If you think this is a clear-cut case, you are just biassed.
And even if he was guilty, after 45 years in prison, he had served his debt to society and they concluded that he was no threat to anyone.

I would have also agreed if Trump had signed his pardon.
However Trump still kept calling for the executions of the Central Park 5,
when they were exonerated by DNA evidence.

Gov. Wolf commuted Charles Goldblum’s life sentence after almost 45 years in prison. Goldblum is 71 and has health issues. Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, former mayor of Braddock, chairs the state’s Board of Pardons. Fetterman said that it served no purpose for Goldblum to remain behind bars.
“I think it’s important that mercy must be a partner to justice,”

That's what the pardon system was intended for, not for having a president preemptively pardoning his partners in crime.

He's much more expensive for the taxpayer in jail than free.
Are you even afraid of a 71 year old with bad health? Jeesh!
I think real life sentences are cruel and unusual punishment.
The need for a fair justice system outweighs the wishes of victims.
By phart at 22,Sep,22 23:26 other posts of phart
You think the victims wishes are of no consequence?
The victim had no choice. The crook DID. The crook did not have to commit the crime. They had a choice. That is the issue.

Read this qoute again.
"''we — the families, the survivors, and people that were at the school, and the whole community — were given a life sentence by the shooter and didn't have the opportunity to get a second chance, a reduced sentence."

"You think the victims wishes are of no consequence?"
YES, EXACTLY! Punishment is decided by the judicial system, not the victims.
Are you still living in 1750 BC Babylon? Like all republicans, you have no idea what 'law and order' means. Try to actually understand The Constitution.

The judge should take into account how much suffering the perpetrator has caused and then decide the punishment accordingly.

Than there is the state’s Board of Pardons who decides that punishment has been served, after 45 years. If you are against the Board of Pardons, that's your opinion, but that has nothing to do with John Fetterman, unless you can show that he violated the principles of the Board of Pardons. If not, than he just did his job.

Look at the numbers, crime is sky rocketing in red states.

You think 45 years in prison is not a deterrent?

Your right-wing policies are forcing people into crime, because people
cannot live on the low wages right-wing policies create.

Every country with more liberal justice than yours has lower crime rates.

I'm not saying you have to legalize every immigrant that can swim. Just be generous to real refugees, allow in people who add to your economy and who the US is easily capable to absorb. Send all the rest back to where they come from.
Don't let immigrants rot in the desert, don't let them walk around your country
and don't let them be exploited by farms. Just register them as soon as they arrive,
give them shelter and process their application for legal status as fast as possible. Then either let them in and start their future in your country or send them away.

Is this an extreme position? I think it's not.
It's the same standard I have for my own country.

dead beat dad, a father who owes money to his former wife to help raise their children but does not pay it.

I was able to talk with a inmate out on work release 1 day many years ago and he said he was in jail because they considered him a dead beat dad.
He went on to say the last few times he saw his son, the boy was barefoot, dirty and hungry .But the mother was driving a new Cadillac. He confronted her about the boys health and well being and she told him to just shut the fuck up. the county wouldn't do anything about it. So He decided jail was better than seeing his ex-wife waste the money that was supposed to be used to care for the child. When he was in jail, the state's money was being used to care for the boy, and the state took interest in how the money was used.
thus making a better life for his son. Sad the system is so screwed up. A woman should get some funds to care for a child no doubt, but she should have to account for every dime spent.
Being called a dead beat dad is derogatory and the conditions leading up to his not paying should be taken into account before judgement is passed.
By Ananas2xLekker at 06,Oct,22 17:14 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
Obviously you are only commenting on the point in the title, or you would know
that the most important point was that Herschel Walker most likely forced a woman,
who is also the mother of one of his children, to have an abortion, while he is saying
that he wants to ban abortions, without any exceptions.
That means he is an absolute hypocrite, as well as a deadbeat dad.

By CAT at 13,Oct,22 13:37 other posts of CAT

I know, you think it is ok to waste alimony and let the child suffer.
By CAT at 13,Oct,22 17:38 other posts of CAT
It's not up to him to say what the mother does with alimony. As far as child support (witch is separate from alimony), he still has no say on how it's used. If he feels his child is being neglected, then he should get Family and Children's services involved and ultimately, get custody of the child. Breaking the law to be in jail shows a deadbeat father and a trashy human being.😈
By phart at 14,Oct,22 02:18 other posts of phart
I didn't say it should be up to the father how the money was spent. It should be the governments responsibility to see that the money is used to care for the child.that is why the courts ordered the money paid,is to support the child.
By Ananas2xLekker at 14,Oct,22 07:24 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
To his defense, he didn't want the child and offered to pay for the abortion,
like he paid for her previous abortion. However, it's the woman's choice and she decided to give birth to the child and care for it. Then both parents are responsible to care for the child, but he was forced by the courts to do the minimum.

I have no idea what you're talking about, because it's not applicable
to Herschel Walker or the mother of the son he never wanted.
The whole case is just applicable to Herschel Walker propagating
a full ban on abortion, with only one exception; all the women he fucks.

By CAT at 14,Oct,22 11:25 other posts of CAT
You go from "the government should stay out of it" to "it's the government's responsibility". So, witch is it? Whatever supports your argument? The mother has the feduciary right to make decisions about and for the child's well being. Government agencies should get involved AFTER a complaint.
By phart at 14,Oct,22 17:20 other posts of phart
In the situation I speak of the government levys the punishment of paying alimony ,therefore it is their responsibility to make sure it is used as it is meant to be.
As for Mr walker, people can change their mindsets can change with lifes experiences. Perhaps he regrets what he did, and doesn't want others to deal with the aftermath of those decisions.
By CAT at 14,Oct,22 20:37 other posts of CAT
The government does no such thing. In a separation or divorce, one of the parties sues for alimony and there are formulas used to grant alimony. Divorce is between two people and they have the responsibility of making it work. Because the money is for upkeep of an individual's betterment, the government can help to collect, but, no one is going to jail for long. It's counter productive

Liberia is also history ,it didn't work because blacks didn't want to go back home and be free to live their own lives.
They had already became dependent on the Americans.
Besides that, what was so humane about freeing the slaves, throwing them out to the wolves with no education, no homes ,nothing? Leaving them to be taken advantage of on up until modern times??
How many slaves went to Liberia?
Between 1820 and 1864, only 11,000 African Americans emigrated to Liberia (4,000 free blacks and 7,000 former slaves who gained freedom by agreeing to emigrate to Liberia).

Besides, for what slaves cost, why would they be abused and mistreated? That would be equal to a modern farmer running his new john deere combine without oil or with flat would cost him 1000's of dollars. slaves were fed, clothed and took care of,it made financial sense to "maintain" them ,just as a farmer today maintains his tractor and combine.

Ah, so you're not just a fucking idiot - you're a racist, fucking idiot.

Equating human beings with pieces of machinery is about as crass, and stupid, as you can get.

The modest numbers that went to Liberia is ZERO excuse for the aberration that is slavery. ANY, repeat ANY, justification for one human owning another is deplorable. I hope you don't mean what you say. The alternative is that you are a fucking horrible person.

I understand equating humans to machines is not the finest way to explain a point but it was the simplest and with folks like you,I have to make it simple.
The average male slave cost about 3500 dollars.
only registered users can see external links
So you do the math,
that was alot of money.
Again, the only logical way to explain it is it did not make economic sense to abuse a slave.
By #666999 at 05,Sep,22 19:45
I have nothing to add to my previous comment. You're a racist, fucking idiot.

Excusing slavery on economic grounds, or any other grounds, is despicable.
By phart at 05,Sep,22 22:14 other posts of phart
NOTHING in what I said excuses it.I am simply explaining it.
You can't seem to understand things were different then than now.
IT was LEGAL. It was wrong of course, but it was legal.
but to claim abuse of slaves ,without proof, makes it seem people were stupid and deliberately damaged their property.
I was simply explaining it in a way even your simple mind should be able to grasp. It was a different time ,a different lifestyle ,different mindset than now. You can't think "now" and understand "then".
And people like yourself fail to understand, airplanes fly back to Africa every day Are blacks leaving? They are free to? But are they? No, they know they have it MUCH better here today, due to the sacrifices of their ancestors ,than they would be back in their nation of origin.

I think Bravenewone is right. You're a racist. Equating human beings with pieces of machinery is about as crass, and stupid, as you can get.
The modest numbers that went to Liberia is ZERO excuse for the aberration that is slavery. ANY, repeat ANY, justification for one human owning another is deplorable.
I guess I'll be crass too. Those 11,000 free blacks and those that were freed former slaves is not enough to make a dent in a continent that has millions upon millions of people. The majority of American slaves between 1820 and 1862 were born here. They were slaves in their own country. Liberia, like most of Africa, suffers from poverty, undereducation and little infrastructure, and that's today. In the 1800s there was a lot less.
Putting a dollar amount to a human being to show how well treated a slave was treated is evil. One of the biggest injustices was the fact that when slaves got their freedom, the former owners did not help them to merge into American society.
Sherman was a horrible person. So you say, but, his job was to win, and he did. He said the following.
We are not only fighting armies, but a hostile people, and must make old and young, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war, as well as their organized armies. I know that this recent movement of mine through Georgia has had a wonderful effect in this respect. Thousands who had been deceived by their lying papers into the belief that we were being whipped all the time, realized the truth, and have no appetite for a repetition of the same experience.
Today many, especially in the south, remember Sherman as a cruel man who burnt the homes and crops of Georgians, forcing them into poverty and starvation. Debates continue to rage today whether he should be considered a war criminal, or simply as a general who knew now to end the war.
Whatever he was, it doesn't excuse slavery and all the discrimination of blacks that came later and to this day.

Just how else would you explain how slave owners operated back during the 1800's when slavery was a legal business and trade and practice? To understand something, you have to try. How do you think modern crimes are solved? Someone has to think those evil thoughts, understand how evil people operate,to catch them.To understand the 1800's and slavery, you have to try to put it in terms you can relate to. And since slaves were used mostly in farming, comparing them to farm machines is the only logical thing to compare them to for the sake of understanding.
That has no bearing on rather you agree or not with what is going on,be it slavery or murder, it just means you understand it.
The sad reality is,people were putting dollar amounts on other people long before we were born.
I am not comparing humans to machines because I agree with the ideas of the 1800's.I am trying explain the mindset of the people at that time.
what part of,
"NOTHING in what I said excuses it.I am simply explaining it."
is so hard for you to understand?

I also understand Charlie Manson, Hitler, and Stalin. I can't even say that in a normal conversation. Slave ownership was, is, and will always be WRONG no matter what the law says.
By phart at 06,Sep,22 16:05 other posts of phart
At that time,it was legal.
Rather we like it or not.
Rather we agree or not.
Nothing we can do to change what happened then.
But perhaps if we accept the fact that the people did not operate under the same rules as we do, perhaps we could also accept the fact they did not feel they were doing wrong.
It is wrong now,but it was not wrong then by the living standards of that time.

No one is trying to exonerate them,i am simply trying to explain their actions at that time.
And what evidence can you show us that they knew it was wrong?
only 1 can exonerate ,and it will be a while yet before it is called judgement day, that is if you have any religion.
for brave 1,there is a deep hole when he is finished.

"what evidence can you show us that they knew it was wrong?"

You really are a fucking idiot. At about the time the US became a Nation people were already campaigning against slavery. Do yourself a favour - read a fucking book now and again.

Alternatively, Google the following:
James Oglethorpe
Granville Sharp
Hannah More
The Somersett case of 1772
The French law of 4th February 1794
The Slavery Abolition Act of 1833.

ALL, repeat ALL, predated the American Civil War. People have known that slavery is despicable (and that people are not analogous with tractors) for a lot longer than fucking idiots, like you, are aware of. Fucking idiot.

I'll settle for my "deep hole" if the alternative is believing fairy tales. You can take your Ephesians 6: 5-8 and shove it up your arse. Repeat - you're a fucking idiot.

Gee I wonder where the Americans learned it from?

Central Europe was the most favoured destination for importation of slaves alongside Central Asia and Bilad as-Sudan, though slaves from Northwestern Europe were also valued. This slave trade was controlled mostly by European slave traders.
By #666999 at 07,Sep,22 11:47
What the fuck has that got to do with anything? Slavery is, and always has been, wrong.

I don't care whether US slave owners "learned it from" Vikings, Asians, or Mickey fucking Mouse! Fucking idiot.

"but it was not wrong then by the living standards of that time."

Oh yes it fucking was, you ignorant turd.

On a wider point: that's what I see as the difference between conservatives and progressives. Conservatives seek to conserve the status quo (because it enriches them), progressives seek to make progress so that we can all live better, more enriching lives.

My only hope is that phart ends up qualifying for a Darwin award and doesn't pass on his genetic material (or views) to another generation.

I agree with your last sentence, but people here for syd/syc would not be following this. Proves that people have many interests.

"a great, informed speech by our former President"
Where he again confessed that he stole the documents.
Has he explained WHY already? That would be informative.

Off course he accused Hillary again, who was guilty of being not transparent with
her e-mails, while she was never president. Trump WAS president and was ALSO not transparent with his e-mails. So were Ivanka and Jarod, who had equally important positions as Hillary ever had. Jared Kushner was called 'Secretary of Everything'.

Hillary's e-mails were the reason to chant 'lock her up'.
If the courts had decided to do that, that would've be fine with me.
Trump did much worse crimes. His crimes are unprecedented in US history.
You would say 'LOCK HIM UP' too, if you weren't a partisan hack.
By phart at 05,Sep,22 18:24 other posts of phart
No,the partisan hacks are the 1's that didn't lock up hillary but are out to lock up Trump simply because they are AFRAID of WORKING AMERICANS joining together to try and save our country from the liberal democrats that think the working people should keep up the lazy no working 1's and not get much fruit for their labors on top of keeping up the lazy.

Also the partisan hacks are the 1's that kept the "hunter laptop" under the radar long enough to get biden in office when that laptop proves our p"resident" is owned by the russians and chinese. PROVES IT, not hearsay like with Trump.
By Ananas2xLekker at 06,Sep,22 16:27 other posts of Ananas2xLekker
How about this for partisan hacks; everyone in Trump's rallies was chanting 'Lock her up!', while Trump was doing exactly the same as Hillary. He uses private phones for e-mail, WhatsApp and Twitter and violated the Freedom of Information Act, just like Hillary. If that was all he did, he's still just as guilty, but he wouldn't have credible deniability like Hillary. However, Trump did much worse. He didn't just failed to archive his communications, he destroyed archives and stole archives. Hillary was investigated, but you don't want Trump to be investigated for violating the same Freedom of Information Act, but then in many more ways. That's because you understand that he has even worse crimes to cover up and you don't want it all getting uncovered.

Working people should be concerned that they might become too lazy, if they vote for things like infrastructure, education, healthcare, childcare and the energy transition? Damn that's stupid. And your disrespect for your fellow Americans is shocking.

Hunter doesn't fall under the Freedom of Information Act, because he's not part of the government. Jarod and Ivanka were and misused their position in the government to enrich themselves in ways that Hunter can only dream about. I'm sure many crimes are uncovered when Jarod and Ivanka get investigated. If it was a crime to just use the name of your father to get cushy jobs, all of your politicians and their children would be guilty. The difference between what you consider proof for Republicans and Democrats is incredibly funny. A few confusing mails of Hunter are good enough to arrest all Democrats, and boxes full of secret documents being stolen and missing and than having lawyers sign off lies that all of them are returned, by a Republican shouldn't even be investigated. The term 'hypocrisy' falls short.

The deal is that it's illegal and he broke the law. You and I would have been indicted already. Favoritism

You or I would be treated like Chelsey Manning.
At least she is a legitimate whistleblower, exposing crimes by the government.

Trump is a traitor who planned to change the election results with fake electors and organized an insurrection against the government, where a riled up mob was planning
to hang the vice president and all the Democratic party members they could find.

Favoritism is an incredible understatement.
